Armed Forces Community
Clark Willis was initially invited to open an office in Catterick Garrison due to our expertise and throughout this period have been helping members of the Armed Forces and their families move home and solve their legal problems for over 50 years. We may not still have an office in the Garrison but continue to serve Armed Forces and their families.
Our experience gives us a greater understanding of how the Armed Forces work and the unique aspects of forces life and how that impacts on legal matters.
Whilst fundamentally the legal services for members for the Armed Forces and their families are the same as any of our clients, the nature of life in the forces presents unique challenges or offers additional benefits to those on civvy street.
Whether it’s the additional hazards of the occupation, the strain on families whilst separated on deployments or the unique funding and support available, you want to be sure that the legal firm you instruct has the experience to support you.
“Absolutely fantastic service throughout. Friendly and efficient staff and would recommend over and over again for all Law requirements.”

Services for Armed Forces
Property Purchases, Sales & Forces Help to Buy
Our specialist solicitors and conveyancers are on hand to deal with all elements of residential property including leasehold and freehold sales and purchases as well as equity transfers and re-mortgages.
Forces Help To Buy is a scheme where serving personnel may be eligible to borrow up to half of their salary to a maximum loan of £25,000 to purchase mortgageable residential properties in the UK.
Clark Willis can prepare Powers of Attorney for signatures during deployment.
For more information, please see our Residential Property services.
Family & Children
The nature of Armed Forces life can have an impact on relationships and should they break down we can advise on all types of family matters including Forces pensions and children matters.
SFA housed personnel may have a trial separation and temporarily move into single living accommodation with permission enabling the other spouse and children to remain in the married quarter accommodation. Normally this would end after 3 months. If the home was purchased using Forces Help to Buy then this can add another complexity to a separation.
Clark Willis has offices in Darlington and Northallerton and may be able to offer legal aid where available.
For more information, please see our Family & Divorce services.
Wills & Tax Planning
Whilst simple Wills can be prepared using MoD form 106 and unusually, those under 18 can make a Will if on active service, often taking the advice of a specialist solicitor can be beneficial to plan your affairs thoroughly, including providing for partners, children and your finances.
At Clark Willis, we can also assist with Lasting Powers of Attorneys so that you can nominate who would assist with your affairs whilst you were on overseas deployment in the short term, or longerterm due to injury leaving you unable to manage them personally.
